    PANASONIC KX-TGM420W AMPLIFIED PHONE

Posted by William Haegele on Jun 13th 2023

    Installed about a month ago.
I spent quite a while researching and trying these phones marketed towards the elderly. My 91 YO mom has very poor vision and is very picky.
ALL of them fall short on some aspect of design or execution. Some in ways that make you wonder if they ever had someone who needed the features ever test their product. This phone comes closest to perfect for vision issues in my opinion, albeit pricey. The hearing assistance features are very robust too. Numbers are as big as possible on a phone that's comfortable in your hand. Because of all the talking features (Panasonic had the first talking caller ID) the memory dial and phonebook do not require using the display. Mind blowing how many low vision phones expect you to read their tiny 'large high contrast' display to call from memory. Right.
Once they get used to the placement of the extra features they will be very comfortable with it. Like all modern phones, the talk and end buttons have a bump to orient the keyboard.
Set it up for them. It's pretty straightforward but extensive for someone real old or not techy.
Cons? Can't buy the base without an answering machine.
Best feature is button to slow fast talker messages and even live on the call.
My advice? Even if it's more, buy it from a real site like this, not another amazon store. ALL of the phones have a good percentage of people who got duds, and good luck getting a warranty honored from a Amazon seller, regardless of what their ads say. This goes for any purchase.
